{T By 3} 3D Tic Tac ToePlay! Play in Applet! Maintainer: demonpants Back to: ClassicNote: this game requires at least one other person to play and there's no one playing it right now. You may want to invite a friend to come play it with you. Description Instructions If you don't know how to play Tic Tac Toe, you have not only been living under a rock, but you've also been living under a rock that exists in a perpendicular (not parallel, that would be too close) dimension on a distant planet in an astronomically backwater solar system. ... *Ahem* I'll briefly explain the rules, in any case. I want to cover all demographics, don't I? The Classic You play as either the X's or the O's. Your goal is to complete three in a row before the other player does. If you pay complete attention, there is absolutely no way to lose in Tic Tac Toe. The only way to win is for the other player to fail. The Twist And that's why you play T By 3. Its rules are the same as the original Tic Tac Toe, except now you can complete three in a row in the third dimension. On top of that, you can make your game board absolutely huge (we're talking 20x20x20 maximum... 8,000 spaces), so that if you mess up it's much more forgivable. Naturally, the bigger the board, the more you need to get in a row. With the above example, you've got to get 20. Visualizing the 3D on a 2D screen can always be a challenge. In order to allow the player to see everything at once and to create more of a challenge, the Z dimension (that would be the third dimension) is represented by a bunch of regular 2D boards. They read just like a page does - the highest level is located in the top left, and lowest level is in the bottom right. When a new row starts, it is the next level from the line above it. Just like reading. The Bugs There are no bugs. If you find one, please let me know. The Future This is only the base version of the game. In the future, I might add more features, like: allow players to throw the different board sections around to mess up other players, allow up to 8 players, allow changing of how many in a row you need independently of the board size, add in computer AI using adversarial search, and maybe if I'm way into wasting my time on Tic Tac Toe put in actual 3D rendering. The Reason I recently made Sinuosity as a challenge assignment for Three Rings. In my rush to be super impressive and innovative, I basically made something that was beyond my understanding of Game Gardens. As such, it had plenty of bugs. I think Game Gardens seems like an useful library, so I decided to go to square one like I should have in the first place - Tic Tac Toe. Eventually I want to make Voodoo Vendetta, details for which can be found on my website. The The Word The. Teh. I am mocking my repetition. Credits Created:
